It appears the Atlantic is finally beginning to awaken as this afternoon the second tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic Ocean. The system has developed as of 5pm Eastern Time just north of the Bahamas. It is likely the system will become Tropical Storm Bret within 12 hours of this entry being written. It just goes to show you how quickly things can change in the world of meteorology as this morning things looked relatively quiet with little chance of this disturbance being classified as a tropical cyclone today.

This is one reminder that it  is important to always be prepared if you are anywhere along the Atlantic Seaboard for hurricane season. It only takes one, and if you are ready for it you will fare a lot better in the end. Finally always remember to check with your local agencies for specific threats to your area in this regard. Stay safe and stay tuned!
